2024 AIMC

The event commenced with the inaugural Screen Australia Filmmaker Masterclass, with over 24 filmmaker presentations focused on Australian film production and associated marketing, publicity, distribution and exhibition trends.  The Masterclass was followed by a screening and Q&A of the 2025 Australian film The Correspondent to filmmakers and industry executives.  

On Tuesday 29th October, the Cinema Australia lunch returned to the AIMC with delegates enjoying presentations from Screen Australia, Screen Queensland and the City Of Gold Coast.  Four Australian films featured along with Q&A’s with the filmmakers, including Spit, Dangerous Animals, The Correspondent & Kangaroo. 

23 distributors presented to delegates at the AIMC, including Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures Releasing, the Walt Disney Company, Roadshow Films, Madman, STUDIOCANAL and the Australian Independent Distributors Association. 

Four yet to release features films were screened for delegates including two local Australia made films The Correspondent (Kriv Stenders) and Better Man (Michael Gracey), along with two international films (Gladiator II and The Last Journey).  Delegates additionally enjoyed keynotes from the industry’s leading organisations including Vista Group, Christie, IMAX, Dolby & CJ 4DPlex, along with presentations from Jane Hastings (Chair Global Cinema Federation), Jackie Brenneman (Fithian Group – USA) and Damian Keogh (CEO & President – HOYTS Group).

The post event AIMC survey noted that 87% of respondents agreed that the event was Exceptional/Above Average, and 95% of survey respondents noting that attending the AIMC enhanced their awareness of distributor slates and industry trends, and overall had a positive impact on their job satisfaction and ability to deliver on their objectives. The 78^th Australian International Movie Convention Powered By Vista Group will be hosted @ The Star Gold Coast from Monday 27^th October 2025.
